Dear Governor Rendell and Secretary Zahorchak:
Our national and state Coalitions have been closely monitoring the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI). We hope this initiative will improve education in Pennsylvania and across the nation by strengthening the content standards in mathematics and English-language arts.
Considering that the CCSSI expects to release a draft of core common standards soon, we would like to know how, specifically, you plan to evaluate its suitability for Pennsylvania students. What process will you use for this evaluation?
