As an endorsing partner, we support the Common Core State Standards Initiative in its mission to ensure every American student graduates high school with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the 21^st century. We agree with the goal of the Common Core State Standards Initiative to produce a common core of voluntary state standards across grades K-12 in English/language arts, math,
and eventually science that are:
Aligned with college and career expectations;
Internationally benchmarked against high performing nations;
Reflective of vital cross-disciplinary skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, logical reasoning, communication, and team work;
Fewer in scope and deeper in meaning; and
Clearly written and user-friendly to educators.
As an Endorsing Partner, our organization’s role and responsibilities include the following:
Offering input, expertise, support, and guidance to the development and adoption of a common core of state standards through the Common State Standards Initiative led by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and the Council of Chief State School Officers.
Communicating support of the initiative and its goals to our members, constituents, colleagues, and co-workers.
Being listed on Common Core State Standards Initiative documents and materials as an Endorsing Partner.
Identifying a single point of contact within your organization for CCSSO and the NGA Center to interact with on all issues related to common core state standards.
